Cannes Lions 2024: 8 More Shortlists From India In 4th List; Leo Burnett Mumbai Leads Today With 4 Selected Entries

With Cannes Lions announcing its fourth shortlist, India’s tally has now moved up from 38 to 46 entries as Leo Burnett Mumbai today has secured 4 shortlists, followed by 2 selected entries from McCann Gurugram and Ogilvy Mumbai and FCB India Gurugram at 1 entry each.

Cannes Lions 2024: 8 More Shortlists From India In 4th List; Leo Burnett Mumbai Leads Today With 4 Selected Entries

As the five-day festival- Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2024 kickstarts today at Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France, the fourth shortlist announcement has been made for the 71st edition of the coveted gala.

In the same, India has secured a total of 8 more shortlists across three categories. Of these, there were 6 shortlists from India in the Brand Experience & Activation Category, 2 shortlists in Creative Data Lions and no shortlist in Creative B2B category.

Here is a category-wise break up of all the selected entries from India in the fourth shortlist announcement:

1. Brand Experience & Activation

A02 (Healthcare)

a. P&G Whisper’s ‘PERIOD SCIENCE FOR MOMS’ by Leo Burnett, Mumbai.

D01 (Live Brand Experience or Activation)

a. 5 Star Chocolate’s ‘ERASE VALENTINE’S DAY’ by Ogilvy, Mumbai

D05 (Launch/Relaunch)

a. Buckaroo Footware’s ‘FIT MY FEET’ by McCann, Gurugram

E03 (Single – Market Campaign) 

a. Gatorade’s ‘TURF Finder’ by Leo Burnett, Mumbai

b. Buckaroo Footware’s ‘FIT MY FEET’ by McCann, Gurugram 

E04 (Social Behaviour & Cultural Insight)

a. STIR Magazine’s ‘UNTANGLING THE POLITICS OF HAIR’ by FCB India, Gurugram

The fifth set of shortlists for Cannes Lions comprising categories such as Creative Business Transformation, Creative Commerce, Creative Effectiveness, Creative Strategy, Film and Luxury & Lifestyle Lions will be rolled out on June 17, 2024. 

With the announcement of the fourth shortlist for the 71st edition of Cannes Lions, India’s overall tally has now gone up from 38 to 46 entries now across 23 categories. 

In the first shortlist announcement, India garnered a total of three shortlists in Glass: The Lion Of Change Category as one entry each from Leo Burnett India, tgthr and McCann Worldgroup made the cut. 

Similarly, in the second shortlist, Ogilvy Mumbai and VML Mumbai secured 4 shortlists each, followed by McCann Gurugram at 3, and Dentsu Creative Gurgaon and Early Man Film with 2 entries each across 6 categories.

And in the third shortlist announcement, VML Mumbai won 6 more shortlists, Leo Burnett Mumbai- 4, followed by Ogilvy Mumbai (including 1 shared shortlist with Rapport Outdoor Advertising) and FCB Kinnect Mumbai with 3 shortlists each, McCann Gurugram- 2 and Dentsu Creative Gurugram and DDB Mudra Group Mumbai at 1 each across 11 categories. 

Currently, the agency wise shortlist tally of India at Cannes Lions 2024 across 23 categories which have been announced is as follows: 

  1. VML Mumbai- 10
  2. Ogilvy Mumbai- 8 (including 1 shared shortlist with Rapport Outdoor Advertising)
  3. Leo Burnett Mumbai- 9
  4. McCann Worldgroup Gurugram- 8 
  5. FCB Kinnect Mumbai and Dentsu Creative Gurgaon- 3 each
  6. Early Man Film- 2
  7. DDB Mudra Group Mumbai, FCB India and Tgthr- 1 each
