Let’s take a look at some brands that are healthy, homegrown and full of wholesome goodness.
1. Happilo
A D2C gourmet snacking company found by Vikas Nahar in 2016, Happilo is synonymous with freshness and flavor. The company sources the best-quality ingredients from its sources which are known for those particular ingredients, like dates from the Middle east and nuts from California. The brand showcases usage-based content, urging people to create recipes and use them in their day-to-day life.
The company raised its first funding round worth $13 million, from A91 Partners in February this year and is said to make INR 180 crore in revenue.
2. Snackible
Snackible was launched in 2015 by Aditya Sanghavi, which went on to become a retail FMCG brand in within two years of inception. In a bid to preserve overall quality, the firm takes care of the entire process, right from sourcing raw materials to packing them. Whole Wheat Waffles, Ragi cookies and Baked Bhakarwadi are some of its hot selling products.
In October 2020, the brand raised bridge funding from Mumbai Angels Networks and from other existing investors.
3. True Elements
Pune-based snacking startup was found by Puru Gupta, Sreejith Moolayil, and Shahnawaz Alam in 2014. This breakfast and snacks brand offer a variety of items like breakfast cereals, roasted snacks and raw seeds. All its products are made from 1005 natural whole grains.
True Elements uses local produce such as millets, grains, and seeds and 75 percent of its workforce in Pune comprises of women. Having gained an INR10 crore funding from Maharashtra State Social Venture Fund, that is managed by SIDBI VC, the brand is using it to build up on its brand identity and innovation.
4. EAT Anytime
The brand focusses on bringing wholesome snacking to the table, so that one can easily give up on the junk. Their energy bars, protein cookies and trail mixes are exceptionally tasty and they also offer snacks in spicy variants, that are made with millets. With over 1500 stores across 8 cities, the brand was found by Rishit Sanghavi and Rohit Garodia in 2016.
5. Snack-A-Doodle
The startup found by two young moms Radhieka Pandeya and Simer Dhall, is a snacking brand that offers healthy, flavourful, sugar-free and gluten-free snacks for kids. Both the founders, faced problems in providing healthy snack options, with all the flavour, for their kids and this is what led them to start Snack-A-Doodle. They sell through websites and outlets and offer products in eight categories like popcorn, bites and cookies.
6. Snack Amor
Found with a zeal to change the 4 p.m. snacking culture, without compromising on nutrition and immunity, Deepak Grover started Snack Amor in 2017. The brands target audience is anyone and everyone, right from kids to adults who believe in preventive healthcare and want to manage weight. They have tie-ups with We Work, Reliance Retail and Haiko.
