If you’re one of those true cricket fanatic and have been following this season of ICC World Cup, you may have come across something unusual going on with our forever favourite Mahi’s bat.
The Indian cricket star who is mostly seen his Reebok bat was seen playing with at least three different bat stickers in the ongoing tournament. In the matches against England and Bangladesh Dhoni was seen coming in to bat with a bat bearing the SG logo and in the later part of his innings he was seen calling for a bat with the BAS logo.
Arun Pandey, Dhoni’s manager said in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, “It’s a fact that he has been using different bats with different brandings, but he is not charging them. He wants to say thanks to them for helping in various stages of his career.”
“Dhoni has a big heart. He does not need money, he has enough of it, he is using those bats as a goodwill gesture. BAS was with him from the beginning and SG also was very helpful to him,” he added.
While cricketers are mostly known to charge hefty checks for sponsoring brands by adding their stickers on their bats during matches, Dhoni currently has no sponsor since his Australian sponsor company Spartan Sports ran into legal trouble.
Fans of Dhoni are also predicting his retirement from the Indian team post his indeed grateful gesture but let’s not stop rooting for our captain cool because once a Mahi fan always a Mahi fan.
