She’s a person who chooses to start her own business along with bringing up her children. Being a Mompreneur is not very easy, it comes with a list of challenges, the biggest one is to not let the motherly feeling affect the entrepreneur and vice versa at home. Working in a big corporate firm Microsoft for nine years, she decided to give up her career to spend time with her family. Soon she became very restless and decided to open an online modern lightweight jewellery store for global Indians. She launched fourseven.in in the year 2014 and has a keen interest in exploring the e-commerce market in India.
2. Garima Satija
She gave up her HR job at the age of 26 and started a concierge service. PoshVine was started by discovering unique food experiences and aggregating premium restaurants and chefs who were willing to do something unique. The site is extended to six countries excluding India.
3. Suchi Mukherjee
Giving up her scaling technology businesses in the UK, she moved to India. She setup the E-commerce website Limeroad that striked her during her maternity leave while flipping through the pages of a magazine. This portal also allows users to create their own look in a virtual scrapbook.
4. Suman Dash
She was an electronics engineer but had to give up her career due to her pregnancy. But she did not give up hope and wanted to start something of her own. This led to the emergence of Vastradi where she sells ethnic Sambalpuri sarees in various exhibitions.
5. Nidhi Batra
She’s the co-founder and Director of Nirvana Excursions in Mumbai. This company is a travel brand established in 2013 and curates unique travel experiences and customized solutions for travellers.
6. Ambika Ankit Agarwal
At the young age of 25, she started The A-Cube Project which is an event designing company in Chennai. This company crafts unique stories for each and every client by measuring their aesthetic sensibilities.
7. Neeta Maxen
She likes being called “a corporate dropout mom” rather than a mompreneur. She started the Kraftd-Memories boutique firm which customizes parties and banquets. She also opened My Playdate Cafe which she believes to be a social network for little ones.
8. Mani Pavitra
A serial entrepreneur who began her career as an orthodontist at Hyderabad. Her venture Pampered Kids is a children’s play zone and an activity center. Her biggest thrill of starting up was that she wanted to see if she can use parental insights in her business.
9. Rohini Anand-Khira
She is the owner and design director at AA Living at Mumbai. This venture explores an exceptional range of high-quality beds and bath textiles, rugs and accessories. The brand follows the philosophy of selling the products which they love themselves.
10. Shalini Vij
She is the founder of Hang Out which is a family entertainment center. She was inspired by her children. This company has two play areas, one of which is in Delhi and the other one in Gurgaon. She believes in having multitasking skills to run a business but never compromises her time with children.
