April 2019 has shown great changes for some two-wheeler selling companies. Whether it is in their favour or not, it definitely is an interesting topic to discuss. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has revealed the list of companies that could find space in the elite top 10 two-wheeler selling automobile companies.
The given four companies could only back position amongst the top 10 in the league including Hero MotoCorp, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto.
1. Hero MotoCorp
Hero MotoCorp backed the first position, beating its arch-rival Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, with its emerging best seller- Splendor. Hero MotoCorp is leading the list with a maximum of its varieties under the two-wheeler category, to go up on the list. Along with Splendor, it also backed the third, the sixth and the ninth position with its variants HF Delux, Glamour and Passion respectively.
2. Honda
Last year, the variant Activa of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, led the list with the first position as the best selling two-wheeler. But this year, it declined to the second position, all thanks to its rival Hero MotoCorp. Along with Honda Activa, HMSI also found backing in the top 10 selling list with its model CB Shine, ranking in the fourth position.
Note: You would be surprised to know that the sales of Activa have been declining year on year with a 38 percent decline in the last month.
3. Bajaj
In the period of decline, last month, where all the companies reported a decline, Bajaj’s Pulsar was the only two-wheeler that reported an increase in sales, backing the fifth position in the list. Bajaj, with its variant- Platina, entered at the seventh position this year. Bajaj’s Platina was missing in the 2018 list.
4. TVS
The race has been parallel for this Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer. TVS Motor’s two variants, namely XL Super and Jupiter, maintained status in the list with eighth and tenth spot respectively.
