One of the world’s leading brand consultancy companies, Interbrand has released its sixth annual list of the best brands in India.
The best brands ranking covered various sectors ranging from Retail, automobile, business and financial. The overall value of the top 40 companies is INR 5.03 Trillion, which is a 5.2% growth as compared to last year.
Who’s at the top?
The names that you here a lot on India have led the list. TATA, Reliance, and Airtel are seen as the top three. In fact, Tata has held the top position for the sixth consecutive year and saw a 6.5% growth in its value. The growth has been credited mostly to its tech company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). However, Reliance took over Airtel and stood at rank two with a 12% growth, mostly because of Jio. Airtel slipped down to rank 3, and certainly, we all know the reason why!
What about the rest?
Various auto brands like Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield, Ashok Leyland, Hero, Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki dominated the whole list. Their growth was more than the average after all. In fact, the overall value of the Top 40 companies had a 17% contribution by the auto sector itself.
Various financial companies like State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, LIC, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and Kotak featured in the list. In fact, Kotak at rank 25, was one of the fastest growing ones. The retail sector also showed its presence with companies like Dabur, Britannia, Dabur, Godrej featuring.
The new entrants that we saw
A few new entrants, mostly retail also made their presence felt on the list. Big Bazaar at rank 33, DMART at rank 37 and Nerolac Paints at rank 39 entered the Top 40 category. This showed that in a changing world, the retail sector has been constantly adjusting and growing to satisfy its consumers and improve its services.
In fact, this list is the portrayal of what the world can be in the future and what the world wants to be in the future.
