Every entrepreneurial story has several ups and downs. It is never smooth sailing for most companies, and every company struggles a lot to reach the top. We’ve compiled a list of the top 5 companies in the world that have seen the darkest days and have still managed to bask in the glory of success through critical thinking, wise investment and a lot of hard work.
FedEx
FedEx has become the most trusted delivery brand in the world. No shipments can go wrong as the brand has been in business for a long time now. But success was not always there for its founder, Frederick Smith. The company’s costs were getting to him and he gambled the last few dollars and won triple the amount which helped him cover the pending payments. In this way, he managed to raise some capital in no time and is now running his company without any hassles.
Apple
Apple products are used by every second individual in the world. The brand has been in the game for years, reworking one model after the other. The company started as a creator of home computers and slowly went on to create the iMac, iPod and finally the iPhones.
Marvel
The Avengers: End Game was released last year and definitely broke a lot of hearts. Our favourite superheroes, though now popular, would never have made it due to a drop in share prices competing with its rivals DC. In 2005, a deal with Merrill Lynch finally turned the tables for the franchise and there was no looking back after that.
Nintendo
Nintendo is an age-old company but definitely does not seem so by the looks of it. They initially started out as a trading cards business which was about to crumble in the 1960s. The company has fallen to its feet several times with the last fall being in 2014. However, after they introduced the Nintendo Switch, they’ve been enjoying the praises of the device being the faster gaming console in Japan.
Netflix
The popular streaming application, Netflix, started off as a DVD renting company. It always took opportunities as they came and immediately took a U-turn after realising the profitable business it would have by switching onto online streaming services. Any guesses how that has been?
Other companies including LEGO, Ford and Delta have seen similar days.
