This year, communications firm Wizikey has released a list of the ten most talked-about women entrepreneurs from diverse fields.
Co-founder of Wizikey, Aakriti Bhargava says, “Indian women entrepreneurs are changing narratives and thriving the Indian economy. We will see the transformation in the ecosystem as more female role models emerge, such as our top 10 women business leaders.” The list is based on a News Score, which is a standardised rating, measuring news visibility for individuals by scrutinizing news volumes, presence of headlines and other factors.
Let’s take a look at the top ten women entrepreneurs who have created buzz this year, and managed to stay ahead in their work.
1. Kiran Majumdar Shaw
Indian billionaire entrepreneur who started Biocon, a biotech company is one powerful woman in the country. With many awards and doctorates to her credit, Kiran has been appreciated for her recent work in motivating businesses to invest in academic research.
She recently raised $ 18 million to support Bugworks Research, and all these factors contribute to her ranking number one on the list.
2. Falguni Nayar
The richest self-made female billionaire that propelled Nykaa to success, is the second most talked about women entrepreneur. The success of the Nykaa IPO led her net worth to becoming $ 6.5 billion and becoming one of the richest 20 people of India.
3. Arundhati Bhattacharya
The former Chairperson of SBI, she has been listed as one of the most powerful women by Forbes. Ranking third on the most talked about women list, she heads cloud-based SaaS firm, Salesforce India, as the chairperson and CEO. With her recent work, a book titled Indomitable: A Working Woman’s Notes on Life, Work, and Leadership, she is making waves in the literary circle too.
4. Anjali Bansal
Named as one of the most powerful women in the world, Anjali Bansal has clinched the fourth spot on the list. She is the MD and CEO of HDFC Life.
5. Divya Gokulnath
The co-founder of one of the most successful start-ups in the country in recent times, Divya Gokulnath, is the director of Byju’s and fifth on the list.
Global CEO of Chanel, Leena Nair has come sixth on the list followed by Vice President of Netflix, Monika Shergill. CEO of Lupin Laboratories Vinita Gupta stands eight followed by founder and CEO of Lupin Laboratories Renuka Ramnath. Suchitra Ella, co-founder of Bharat Biotech is tenth on the list.
