Amid swirling speculation on social media, Tata Starbucks has issued an official clarification today stating that it has not appointed any brand ambassadors in India. The announcement comes in response to viral rumours connecting the brand with Dolly Chaiwala, the popular street tea vendor who has recently shot to online fame.
Starbucks issued a statement via LinkedIn.
“We have noted recent social media posts suggesting that TATA Starbucks has appointed an official brand ambassador. We would like to clarify that TATA Starbucks does not have any official brand ambassadors in India. Specifically, we have not entered any collaboration with Dolly Chaiwala,” Starbucks stated.
“A meme, created independently by a third party, appears to have been misconstrued as a formal campaign,” it added.
The brand added that TATA Starbucks is committed to communicating with accuracy and authenticity and it values the trust of its customers and communities.
