Reliance Retail has acquired Kelvinator in a move aimed at strengthening its position in India’s consumer durables sector. The deal brings one of the most iconic home appliance brands globally into Reliance’s fold, and is expected to accelerate the company’s growth in the premium appliances category.
Kelvinator, known for pioneering electric refrigeration for home use, became a household name in India through the 1970s and 80s with its tagline “The Coolest One.” The brand remains associated with reliable performance, value, and long-standing consumer trust.
With this acquisition, Reliance is looking to combine Kelvinator’s global product pedigree with its own retail scale and distribution network to make high-quality appliances more accessible across Indian households.
Reliance said the integration of Kelvinator will deepen consumer engagement and unlock long-term growth opportunities in the fast-evolving appliances market.
