After dominating the Indian telecom sector Reliance Jio is preparing to do the same for the E-commerce market. Jio is already working with grocery and consumer brands that allows buyers to pay with Jio money and its digital coupons. The company is working on a project involving several brands in Mumbai, Chennai, and Ahmedabad which is expected to launch soon. Jio is also expected to open stores will customers will be able to use coupons to buy branded items. Promotional offers will also be sent to the customers through these stores to attract maximum buyers in the start.
This online-to-offline project will be a big competitor to companies like Paytm and PhonePe as these companies are also seeking to expand their businesses by opening offline stores. However, there has not been any official news regarding the offline stores’ project as the e-commerce plan is yet to get complete but according to some sources, Jio is looking to partner with big names like Wipro, Dabur, Tata Beverages, Godrej Consumer products and Amul to rule the industry.
Reliance Jio which was launched in September 2016 and has a user base of over 125 million across the country and is rising very quickly. After its launch, the data usage has increased in big numbers as Jio provided everything free for the first few months which led the people to use it freely without thinking about the data prices the telecom companies used to impose on customers.
