Originally a resident of Dubrajpur block of Kuraljuri Village in Lakhshminarayanpur Panchayat of West Bnegal’s Birbhum district, Bhuban is known to sell peanuts in exchange for small commodities and household items. He cycles from village to village in order to sell peanuts. He sells 3- 4 kgs of peanuts every day and earns Rs 200-250 approx. However, after finding fame as the Kacha Badam man, he has been selling much more peanuts than usual. However Bhuban’s financial condition is not very favourable. In a recent interview he has stated how he wanted people to hear his songs and the get noticed by the government so that he gets some financial aid from them via this in order to make some permanent living arrangements for his family and look after their well-being.
Bhuban has been into this work for the past 10 years, he was pleasantly surprised after his newfound fame on social media via his song ‘Kacha Badam’ which according to him someone must have recorded when he was selling peanuts near Birbhum and Bardhaman. The inspiration to compose this popular song came from a popular Baul folk tune which is yet another reason behind this song going crazy viral all over internet.
