We all know Rajnikanth as the ‘King of Tamil Cinema’ but do you know that he has never endorsed any brand in his 42-year old career?
No endorsements ever!
Rajnikanth has an extremely popular reputation for the multitude of blockbusters he has delivered to his Tamil industry. With a total of 150 plus movies, he has managed to create an abode of fans. But the question is, why doesn’t Rajnikanth ever endorse brands for businesses?
While he has never really answered the question or probably refrained from doing so, some sources say that this is because of his personal choice that he manages to keep away from endorsing and showing up on advertisements.
This super movie star has also never appeared for promotional activities for his films and has successfully maintained a distance from media. Fans love his movie Kabali that released a few years back and they kept waiting to see him endorse a brand or promote the movie at least that again seemed too far from happening.
Over the decades, we’ve seen great movie stars who are now regarded as legends, appear for the endorsements of various brands even chappals and fairness creams. Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and even Amitabh Bachchan are a few certain exemplary figures for the same. Rajnikanth, on the contrary, is certainly an exception but we love how his films still manage to hit the box office enormously.
What do the sources say?
”It is clearly a personal decision, and I don’t think it is about making more money for him,” stated Rohitash Srivastava, strategic planning head, North India, ad agency Sapient Nitro. “He is not up for sale to promote some underwear or shoe brand. He connects at a higher level. His fans don’t expect him to tell them what to consume.”
Some reports also state, that when Rajnikanth was proposed to endorse a cola brand with Rs.2Crore, he even refused to meet the company’s Corporate Executive. Interesting, isn’t it?
We love how Rajnikanth has formed an equilibrium between his work and cult status and thus we wish him all the luck for his future endeavors.
