Having founded By Design in 1994 to offer strategic brand services based on superior creativity after an initial stint of five years with Grey, Rahul Gupta’s 360-degree creative agency is now taking a reverse drift and rebrand itself to its old-new identity IBD identity.
But what’s the ‘old-new’ catch, let us unfold together.
Established in 1994, By Design had entered into a joint venture with Hakuhodo Percept in 2007 to form IBD (Integrated Brand Development) India to apply a complete 360-degree approach for providing brand and marketing solutions to its clients and hence, over the years worked on several prestigious brand building assignments across multiple sectors including FMCG, Fashion, Retail, Lifestyle, Consumer Electronics, PSU, Realty, Hospitality and Pharmaceuticals.
Between 2007 to 2022, i.e.- the duration for which the JV lasted, IBD India evolved into a potent multi-functional full service agency that offered services like Integrated Marketing Communications, Brand Development, Digital, Production, Design and Packaging.
During this time, Gupta served the role of Managing Director and Chief Creative Officer at the JV.
In 2022, the joint venture was called off and hence the agency drifted to its old name- By Design.
That being said, it was during the last two years that Gupta realised that the agency’s rebranding to By Design didn’t catch everyone’s attention and hence the best decision was to reverse drift to its old identity- IBD (Integrated Brand Development) India in a new move.
Grounded in the philosophy of design, IBD India, going forward, will continue to devise 360-degree solutions ranging from branding, packaging, mainline media and digital campaigns, all anchored in answers to the ‘Who’, ‘What’, ‘Why’, ‘Where’, ‘When’ and ‘How’ of brand and marketing situations to its clients.
Announcing the development in a press note, Gupta stated, “We’ve always been the go-to 360-degree creative agency with ideas that pack a punch. But when we rebranded to By Design, it turns out not everyone caught our drift. Now, after much brainstorming and existential debates, we’re thrilled to announce our new-old identity: IBD (Integrated Brand Development).”
Furthermore he also added, “Still the same full-service creative powerhouse. Still the same team you love to work with. Now, with a name that reflects everything we’ve always been. We’re constantly evolving, but the work stays classic. Think Don Draper with an Instagram account.”
