People Are Calling This World Cup Ad Racist by Pakistan As It Mocks IAF Pilot Abhinandan

| Published on June 12, 2019

In an attempt to take a dig at India and create a hype for the much awaited India-Pakistan clash in the ICC World Cup 2019, Pakistan’s recently released ad is wrong at many levels.

From disrespecting a soldier and national hero of the country, to being racist the ad has led to trigger wrong emotions in people.

The ad shows a man made to look like Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, replete with trademark moustache and also sporting a blue jersey, like the Indian cricket team.

He is asked several cricket related questions, to which he repeats Abhinandan’s famous statement,

“I’m sorry, I am not supposed to tell you this.”

He also sips tea from a cup, just like in the video released by the Pakistani military, where he was shown being questioned after being beaten up.

The ad further has racist overtones and also shows the man’s face been blackened.

This has left not only the Twitterati furious but also the country.
