In an attempt to take a dig at India and create a hype for the much awaited India-Pakistan clash in the ICC World Cup 2019, Pakistan’s recently released ad is wrong at many levels.
From disrespecting a soldier and national hero of the country, to being racist the ad has led to trigger wrong emotions in people.
The ad shows a man made to look like Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, replete with trademark moustache and also sporting a blue jersey, like the Indian cricket team.
Jazz TV advt on #CWC19 takes the Indo-Pak air duel to new level. It uses the air duel over Nowshera and Wing Co Abhinandan Varthaman's issue as a prop. @IAF_MCC @thetribunechd @SpokespersonMoD @DefenceMinIndia pic.twitter.com/30v4H6MOpU

He is asked several cricket related questions, to which he repeats Abhinandan’s famous statement,
“I’m sorry, I am not supposed to tell you this.”
He also sips tea from a cup, just like in the video released by the Pakistani military, where he was shown being questioned after being beaten up.
The ad further has racist overtones and also shows the man’s face been blackened.
This has left not only the Twitterati furious but also the country.
This is shameful.
Please just let this be a cricket match. This is beyond just simple banter. #CWC19#INDvPAK https://t.co/shsUrYpCHl— Ritayan Basu | ঋতায়ন বসু (@ritayanbasu) June 11, 2019
Abhinandan’s Capture Mocked in Racist #Pakistani Ad For World Cup Clash Against #India. This is how #racism, #nationalism and #sports combines to produce toxic outcomes. Entirely unnecessary. #CWC2019 #crickethttps://t.co/7gcMx2CxjI

I think this is highly disrespectful and disgusting to use a war hero. The incident is very recent and this ad is in very bad taste. Pakistan needs to be sensitive, it shows how insensitive they are.@PMOIndia @ICC @SGanguly99 @bhogleharsha please do something
