So we all know that Bollywood plays a very important role in inspiring a common man’s dreams and life. From trying to follow the fashion trends, or copying the dance moves and acting skills, our films have a huge impact on our day-to-day lives.
In the past, some movies have shown how their effective marketing and product placements have helped garner big responses. For example, Spain tourism got a huge boost with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, The Parra road, just a road, got extremely popular because of that one scene in Dear Zindagi and today is almost treated as a photography spot. Cruises got new recognition with Dil Dhadakne Do. Though these are some of the recent examples, but even when you look back in the past, Bollywood always inspired in a big way. Remember the Booby Joodas and Pins, The Salman Khan Friend Cap from Maine Pyaar Kiya, Amitabh’s Shahenshah and Yaarana Jackets, or SRK’s Polo Tee Shirt from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
But till now, we saw all this inspiration coming in the form of fashion, tourism trends, dialogues and lingo, but for a change, this time a movie has helped provoke a thought. With extensive marketing during the release of Padman, which got some bashing when Twinkle Khanna raised the concern, and some acceptance, when people accepted to at least acknowledge the issue. But today, after a lot of dwelling, our government has finally exempted Sanitary Napkins from GST, and someone really gave it back to the people who barked that time.

Twinkle Khanna took to Twitter to express her emotions “When I raised questions about why there was GST on sanitary pads I had a large number of people barking at me-Glad to see positive results finally #PadManTalks,” she wrote.

Whatever happened, has definitely happened for good, and we must appreciate the effort out in by Padman’s team in not only making a film on such a sensitive and relevant issue, but also voice it out to the common people.
