While the exact reasons from Sam’s side are yet to be revealed, OpenAI has concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities. The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI, according to their official blog post.
Along with Sam, Greg Brockman, the co-founder of OpenAI, has also resigned from the company. -Mira Murati joined OpenAI in 2018 and was promoted to the role of CTO in May 2022. She has played a crucial role in testing the company’s tools publicly.
-Before OpenAI, Mira worked at Tesla where she contributed to the development of the Model X car. Prior to that, she worked in the aerospace industry for some time.
-Born in Albania and raised in Canada, Mira has also worked in Leap Motion, a VR startup that manufactured and marketed sensor devices that support hand and finger motions as input.
-She did mechanical engineering at Dartmouth College, where she built a hybrid race car as part of her project.
