Well, if some place is getting compared to Oxford, obviously it has to be ‘the best’ at education. And it is this “best education” which is upbringing the young generation of female entrepreneurs in Pune.
Today, we will be looking at the five women entrepreneurs of Pune who made it all the way.

Asa Ferreira
Asa is a Pune-based woman entrepreneur. She founded SocioLoca, a digital marketing company, at the age of 21. At the age when most graduates are confused about what to do in their lives, this young Pune girl had made a mark for herself in the corporate world.
Ankita Shroff
Ankita Shroff is the founder of SAV Chemicals Private Limited, a joint venture with Taiwan based Cartell Chemicals. Ankita founded the company in 2014 when she was just 25 years old. She completed her graduation from Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune and studied Management from Imperial College London. That one year at Imperial College London helped this Pune girl shape her dreams. She joined her father’s business after arriving in India and later founded SAV Chemicals Private Limited.
Sharmila Bhide
The story of Sharmila Bhide teaches to ‘dream big’. After coming back from the U.S. in 1997, she started Calsoft, a software company in Pune. At that time, there were not many women entrepreneurs like today. She is a true inspiration. Her 16-year old technology venture employs around 500 professionals. Calsoft is a specialist in software product development services with expertise in storage, virtualization, cloud computing, embedded, and networking.
Suruchi Wagh
Suruchi Wagh is Founder and Chief Products Officer at Jombay.com, an award-winning Talent Measurement & Analytics company. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the College of Engineering Pune, before flying away to the U.S. for her Masters at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles. And after her masters, she founded Jombay.com returning to India.
Meeta Makhecha
Meeta loves cooking and it was her passion for cooking that paves the way for one of Pune’s few women restaurants. Meeta learns the fine art of culinary at renowned California Culinary Academy in San Francisco for 18 months and spent more than four years in San Francisco gathering experience by working at elite establishments like Les Folie. She was also coached by famous chocolatier Michael Recchiuti. And after returning to India, she opened her own restaurant, The Flour Works, in 2012 at the age of 43 years.
