Maggi is undoubtedly the most selling noodle brand in India. From the students in hostels to housewives- everyone loves Maggi for different reasons. Not only the taste but there are several more factors that make Maggi the best in its category. Even after getting banned Maggi came back strong in the Indian market. Take a look at some marketing and advertisement lessons that we can learn from Maggi.

1. Use emotions in your marketing

Source

Whenever we talk about Maggi an image of a mother cooking the tasty noodles comes in our mind. Maggi has been presented as a family food from years and their ad campaigns have helped them to retain this image. Advertisements are nothing if they don’t relate to real life emotions.

2. Use short and meaningful taglines

Source

Taglines hold an important part in any marketing campaign. Maggi is using short and catchy taglines from years. Take the example of “Taste Bhi, Health Bhi” this tagline can attract a big number of customers as noodles are something people avoid eating because they believe it is unhealthy.

3. Don’t avoid any type of marketing

Source

From print ads, billboards to social media, Maggi ads are everywhere. Maggi increased its marketing investment to about 96 percent when the famous ban on Maggi was removed. Maggi sponsorships were even seen in movies and Bigg Boss show. Brands usually do the mistake of focusing one way of marketing which can be risky too, so always try to be available for as many types of marketing as possible.

4. Sales promotion

Source

For sales promotions, Maggi has a recipe manual on the backside of the packet. These recipes help a lot when someone is making Maggi for the first time or doesn’t know how to make it. Giving proper knowledge about the product in the packaging is also a good lesson to be learned.

5. Don’t underestimate the power of celebrities

Source

From Amitabh Bachchan to the Bollywood diva Madhuri, Maggi has used the most popular celebrities of India in their ads. This is one of the biggest reason for becoming the no. 1 noodles brand as people in India blindly follow these celebrities and tend to use the product these legends suggest.

These marketing lessons from Maggi will surely help you in the advertisement strategies of your own brand. Do share your favorite Maggi stories with us
