In a bid to simplify filming procedures and make Maharashtra a more supportive destination for filmmakers, the Maharashtra government has announced the waiving off of charges for the filming of advertisements, movies, and documentaries on government land.
Following the announcement by Maharashtra Government, the Cultural Affairs Department has also issued a government resolution confirming that filming charges are waived, but with a few exceptions.
As per the GR, while producers will have to undergo a single window clearance system for filming of advertisements, movies, and documentaries on government land without any charges, what remains mandatory is a Security Deposit of Rs 40,000 for advertisements, Rs 1 lakh for TV serials, and Rs 2.5 lakh for films.
In addition, this government scheme would not encompass free filming of sorts at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in Mumbai, the film city in Kolhapur and the new film city which is being developed in the state.
