Beyond Fried Chicken By KFC
On Tuesday, KFC, the fast-food chain tested ‘Beyond Fried Chicken’ in the U.S.
KFC became the first fast-food chain to introduce plant-based chicken in the U.S. by partnering with Beyond Meat. Beyond Fried Chicken is only available at one Atlanta location for a limited test.

A KFC representative said that in about five hours on Tuesday, the restaurant sold as many plant-based boneless wings and nuggets as it would sell of its popular popcorn chicken in an entire week.
The representative said, “KFC started talking with various plant-based suppliers this spring and decided to launch this very initial, limited test in Atlanta.” The company wanted to gauge interest in plant-based options from KFC customers as per the representative.
KFC has now joined several other major fast-food companies in making meat alternatives more mainstream, but for a limited time period for now.
Burger King
Burger King began testing its plant-based Impossible Whopper around the United States.
Partnered with Impossible Foods, the Impossible Whopper is billed as “100% Whopper, 0% beef” and comprises a flame-grilled patty topped with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup and pickles on a sesame seed bun.
Dunkin’
Dunkin’s signature breakfast sandwich got a makeover when the brand teamed up with Beyond Meat to serve the Beyond Sausage Breakfast Sandwich in July. The item is currently available only in Manhattan.
Even though many brands are coming forward and embracing the plant-based meat alternatives, there are many that are sticking with their traditional recipes.
In India, KFC has worked a menu targetting its vegetarian customers. That was a first for a food giant like KFC to think beyond the lines.
Brands have been working hard to evolve with time. That is how they aim to stay in the run for long.
