Reliance Strategic Business Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has acquired a 50.1% equity stake in Sikhya Entertainment through a combination of primary and secondary transactions for an aggregate cash consideration of Rs 150 crore. The transaction was completed on February 2, 2026. The acquisition strengthens Jio Studios’ presence in the media and entertainment sector.
Jio Studios has been involved in backing films across theatrical and digital platforms, producing titles such as Dhurandhar, Laapataa Ladies and the Stree franchise. The company has focused on building content with both commercial reach and audience relevance, contributing to its position within India’s content ecosystem.
The collaboration between Jio Studios and Sikhya Entertainment will focus on co-creating films and series for audiences in India and overseas. The partnership combines Jio Studios’ distribution scale and long-term content strategy with Sikhya Entertainment’s experience in developing culturally rooted stories with global appeal.
Founded by Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, Sikhya Entertainment has received international and domestic recognition over the past decade. The production house has won Academy Awards for Period. End of Sentence. and The Elephant Whisperers, along with National Film Awards for films including Masaan, Soorarai Pottru and Kathal. Its filmography includes titles such as The Lunchbox, Pagglait and Kill, spanning multiple languages and formats.
