We all have heard and know of the various responsibilities a Chief Marketing Officer in an organization. And Forbes this year has come up with their inaugural Entrepreneurial CMO list. This list recognizes the achievements of 50 marketing heads of companies across the globe, whose actions and thoughts are helping transform not just their brand but also commerce, culture and society.
The list has individuals, who are serving and have been at legendary brands, as well as those working with two-year-old startups. What’s interesting is that 3 CMOs are of Indian origin, and are making our country proud.
Indian Origin CMOs in the list
1. Noorah Raj Brown
The EVP of Global Communications at Goop, Noorah’s marketing approach has helped expand Goop’s significance as a brand considerably. Her focus has been on service-based campaigns that help devilify women’s sexual pleasure and also has been instrumental in leading the brands efforts for sexual and reproductive freedom.
With a reality show to her credit on Netflix, titled Netflix, Sex, Love & Goop, the brand aims at becoming instrumental in breaking stereotypes and leading conversations around gender, sex and emotional intimacy.
2. Chirag Kulkarni
Chirag Kulkarni is the Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Medly, a digital pharmacy that delivers prescriptions to patients, same day, for free. Previously, he’s helped e-commerce companies like Expedia, Alexa, and LinkedIn market on the web.
He is credited with reformulating the pharmacy experience with better outcomes, by partnering with every stakeholder in the process- doctors, insurers, hospitals etc…
3. Raj Sarkar
With an extensive experience in launching and bringing new products to the market, like Amazon S3, Google Cloud Platform, Google Hangouts, and Cisco Small Business, and being a part of the Prisma Cloud at Palo Alto Networks and Atlassian, he currently serves as the CMO of 1Password.
Raj is passionate around building low-CAC, low-touch GTM models and bringing a growth mindset to Enterprise Marketing, and is of the opinion that enterprise marketing should be more human.
With many other noteworthy CMOs in the list, like Musa Tariq at GoFundMe, Robert Triefus at Gucci, Jochen Sengpiehl at Volkswagen AV, Melissa Hobley at OKCupid, Tariq Hassan at McDonald’s and Heidi Cooley at Crocs, Indian-origin marketing personnel too are sure taking the brand world by storm.
This list has come at a time, when many brands in the world are facing extraneousness. The last two years of the pandemic has taken a major toll on many brands and these CMOs are working doubly hard to assure brand relevancy and growth. Kudos to all of them!
