For decades the Khans of Bollywood have maintained to be at the top of their game in the industry as well as Brand endorsements. But 2019 that saw the end of an era altogether with the end of Marvels Avengers and Game of Thrones, also saw the end of the Khan rule from the endorsement space.
According to Showbiz 2.0 report though celebrity endorsements have grown over 25% from last year, brands now are keen on featuring young stars like Vicky Kaushal, Jhanvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aryan.
The report also added that celebrity endorsements have grown from Rs. 795 cr in 2017 to Rs. 995 cr in 2018. Additionally, the top 10 celebrity endorsement value also rose to Rs. 605cr, growing by 20% over 2017.
The Top 5 celebrity Brand Endorsors.
1. Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar, The Khiladi of Bollywood emerged as the topmost celebrity in the endorsement space with endorsements worth Rs.100 crore. With brands like Rasna, Dollar Club, Honda, Micromax and others in his kitty Kumar surely proved it was his year indeed.
2. Ranveer Singh
Not so shocking, Ranveer Singh secured the second spot in the list with endorsements worth Rs. 84 crores. His list of endorsements include some big brands like Xiaomi India, Siyaram’s, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Make My Trip, Thums Up, Durex, Set Wet, Adidas, Colgate, Nexa, Head and Shoulders, Ching’s Desi Chinese and Royal Stag among others.
3. Deepika Padukone
The X star actress who has made her way to Hollywood is third in the list with endorsements worth Rs.75 crore. Her list of endorsements include brands like Axis Bank, Jaguar Lighting, Oppo, Tanishq, Coca-Cola, Goibibo, Gillette venus, Vistara, Britannia, Nescafe, Lux, Kellogg’s, L’Oreal Paris and a few others.
4. Amitabh Bachchan
Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan took the fourth spot in the list with endorsement deals worth Rs. 72 Crore. Bachchan has more big brands like Cadbury, Gujarat Tourism, Navaratna Oil, Dr. Fixit and other in his kitty.
5. Alia Bhatt
The young actress secured her place in the top 5 with endorsements worth Rs. 68 crore. Some of the brands she endorsed for included Uber Eats, Nokia, Sunfeast Dark Fantasy, Star Plus, Mango Frooti, Frankfinn, Caprese, Sunsilk, Gionee, Cornetto, Philips and Garnier among others.
The King Khan of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan slipped from his 5th position to the 6th spot with endorsements worth Rs. 56 crore followed by Varun Dhawan with deals worth Rs. 48 crore, Salman Khan with endorsements of Rs. 40 crore, Kareena Kapoor with brand deals worth Rs. 32 crore and Katrina Kaif with endorsements worth Rs. 30 crore.
While the Virat-Anushka who were amongst the top 5 last year were replaced by another power couple Ranveer-Deepika, the Indian cricketer with his former captain M.S. Dhoni who are a known face for many brands were not to be found on the list.
