Google has updated its advertising rules concerning gambling and games content, outlining strict requirements for apps and websites seeking to promote such material. The policy focuses on responsible advertising, legal compliance, and protecting users from high-risk content.
The updated policy applies to online gambling and betting apps, casino-style games, skill-based games with cash prizes, lotteries, Rummy, and Daily Fantasy Sports platforms. Advertisers must ensure their content is legally permitted in the target region and must obtain Google certification before running campaigns.
Ads must not be shown to minors, and landing pages need to provide responsible gambling information. Non-casino or casual entertainment games that do not involve real money may be permitted, but any content that mimics real-money gambling is strictly regulated.
Advertisers who fail to comply with certification, legal licensing, or regional restrictions may face ad disapproval, restricted delivery, or account suspension. Google continues to balance the effectiveness of advertising with user safety, emphasizing responsible promotion for sensitive categories like gambling and skill-based cash games.
