We have read a lot of stories of new entrepreneurs getting success with the help of their hard work and resilience. But some stories are just extraordinary because it is not just a story but a journey to success.

Excited? This is the story of a 38-year-old Gujarat-based entrepreneur, Sanjeev Bhatia. Sanjeev started his mobile retailing business in his early 20s. From investing ₹20 lakh to clocking ₹20-25 lakh online sales per day, this entrepreneur is making the most out of online sales,

What led him to get into business at such a young age? Let us get to know Sanjeev Bhatia and his business more closely.

What led to the beginning?

Bhatia’s father used to run a successful textile business in Surat when he met with an accident and was paralyzed waist down and could recover only after three years, post which he had to make a fresh start. He started with a juice shop and was the sole bread earner in the family.

Tough times aren’t that bad after all

Though Bhatia and his family had lost almost everything, they still led a happy life. He gets strength and toughness from all such memories. He has already experienced the worst and it wasn’t that bad according to him.

Today, being a proud owner of 117 stores called the Bhatia’s Mobile, Bhatia says that they were fully engrossed in their mobile retail business and always felt content to serve locally through their offline stores.

But by 2015-16, he started experiencing the competition created because of the reduced pricing strategies adopted by firms like Amazon and Flipkart. Bhatia felt the time was right to move online.

The step towards the World Wide Web

And so, he launched www.onlymobiles.com in 2016 with an investment of ₹20 lakh. The online retailer sells mobile phones, tablets, and other related accessories.

Bhatia’s initial plan was to serve within Gujarat borders but once the company showcased its products and offers on the website, they started receiving calls from all across India. At this point, they realized that they can cater to bigger geography and thus, the online journey started.

Where is he now?

Today, the company delivers products to top metros such as NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, etc.

In addition to this, they provide a 30-day price guarantee to their customers. If the price of the mobile drops in the market, they refund the balance amount. Interesting isn’t it? They also include YouTube reviews for each mobile on their website.

Onlymobiles also claims to be India’s first e-commerce website that provides EMI without a credit card and has partnered with PayU to offer the same.

For Bhatia, it must have been a great challenge to retain his customer base offline and expand it online, given the e-commerce giants capability of pouring in money every now and then. Even after, he didn’t give up and continued moving forward.
