Elon Musk-Led X (Formerly Twitter) Goes ‘Ad-Free’ For Premium+ Users

Elon Musk’s tryst with advertisers has given way to multiple headlines time and again, including the one where the billionaire asked advertisers to ‘Go F*** ’ themselves. And so is the story today as X (formerly Twitter) under his leadership has announced that it is going ad-free for Premium+ subscribers.

X Premium+ is the to be- Everything App’s most expensive subscription package which comes at a price of Rs 1,133 per month when billed monthly and Rs 13,600 annually.

At the time of its launch, the app’s Premium+ plan included features like reduced ads, access to revenue sharing, etc. As a result, its Premium+ tier subscribers saw no ads in the ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ sections/timelines of the platform but could see them on promoted content elsewhere including search pages, profiles, post replies, etc.

But with this development in place, X has eliminated the ad showcase option across all content on the platform for X Premium+ subscribers.

As explained on X Help Centre, Premium+ includes all Premium features with additional benefits like no ads across X’s standard ad inventory, largest reply prioritization, and articles.

“Premium+ Tier: Subscribers to the Premium+ tier will enjoy an ad-free experience across most areas of X, including the For You timeline, Following timeline, post replies, and profiles, ensuring a smoother and more uninterrupted content experience. Premium+ subscribers may occasionally encounter sponsored content outside of X’s standard ad inventory,” it adds.

This development falls in line with the billionaire’s plan to amass X’s majority revenue from subscriptions and not rely on ad revenue only.
