Elon Musk Leaves Twitter Hanging After Withdrawing From $44 Billion Takeover Deal

| Published on July 13, 2022

Elon Musk had just broken the internet when he announced his takeover of the microblogging platform, Twitter. Soon after the takeover was announced, Musk shared a thread of tweets claiming how he was going to make Twitter better than before. He even took polls from people for ideas on what could be done.

But it looks like things might get more difficult for Twitter. In a recent development, Elon Musk has now backed off from the deal. According to Indian Express, he announced on Friday that he will not go ahead with the $44 billion deal of buying Twitter after the microblogging site refused to provide him with usable and concrete data on fake accounts or bots.

While Musk may have changed his mind, Twitter is not going to take it so lightly. As per Indian Express, Twitter has said that they would sue Musk if that takes for them to make the deal happen.

Attorneys for Twitter said in a letter to Musk’s lawyers that was included in a securities filing that Twitter demands that Mr. Musk and the other Musk Parties comply with their obligations under the Agreement, including their obligations to use their respective reasonable best efforts to consummate and make effective the transactions contemplated by the Agreement.

Ever since the news of canceling the deal came to light, Musk has been receiving a lot of flack on social media. Some of these reactions are pretty hilarious and worth the read.

It will be interesting to see what happens next but, as of now, Twitter has a lot to handle.
