K Madhavan has stepped down as the Country Manager and President of Disney Star after a 15-year tenure.
According to media reports, more top-level exits are expected ahead of the upcoming Reliance-Disney merger.
During his time at Disney Star, Madhavan played a key role in driving the company’s strategy and growth, overseeing the Disney, Star, and Disney+ Hotstar businesses, along with operations in General Entertainment, Sports, Direct-to-Consumer, and Studios.
Madhavan joined Star India in 2009 as the South Head, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the company’s successful regional entertainment portfolio. Previously, he served as MD and CEO of Asianet between 2000 and 2008.
Upon reaching out to Disney Star, the company declined to provide a comment.
Alongside his position at Disney Star, Madhavan held several significant roles. He was the President of the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF), Chairman of the National Committee of Media and Entertainment for the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Director of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India. Additionally, he served on the board of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum.
