Check Out The Most Selling Phones Of Quarter 1 2019

The struggles and battles are indeed real when it comes to the Indian smartphone market. With brands like Samsung, Oppo and Vivo in the race, it was Xiaomi who stole the crown with its seven smartphones making it to the list of Top 10 2019 in Affordable category.

According to the report by market research firm IDC, India’s smartphone market grew by 7.1% despite the global market falling by 6% in Q1 with Redmi 6A topping the charts followed by Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi Y2.

Xiaomi successfully managed to capture a market share of 9.5% in Q1 2019 by selling 3 million units of Redmi 6A. While Redmi Note 6 Pro enjoyed the second spot and 4.8% market share with 1.5 million units being sold Redmi Y2 came third with a total sale of 1.23 million units and 3.8% market share. 

Samsung’s Galaxy M20, Galaxy J2 Core, Vivo V15 Pro, Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Go  were the others in the list in the order itself. 

While Xiaomi continued to rule the Indian smartphone market in the budget-friendly category with a sale of 9.8 million units and a 30.6% market share in Q1 2019, Samsung remained the undisputed king in the premium segment with a share of 36% all thanks to Galaxy S10-series. 

“Xiaomi has been consistently leading the smartphone market now for 7 consecutive quarters at the back of aggressively priced high spec models along with heavy promotional campaigns,” said Upasana Joshi, Associate Research Manager, Client Devices, IDC India.

She also noted that Xiaomi’s strong online sales strategy and growing offline presence has also helped the Chinese tech giant to dominate the Indian smartphone market.
