Subhash Dandekar, the founder of stationery brand Camlin, passed away at the age of 86, on Monday. After selling the renowned artwork brand to Kokuyo of Japan, he assumed the role of chairman emeritus at Kokuyo Camlin.

Camlin Founder Subhash Dandekar Passes Away At 86

Subhash Dandekar, the founder of stationery brand Camlin, passed away on Monday at the age of 86.

Dandekar’s cremation took place in central Mumbai on Monday, and the condolence meeting will be held on Thursday, according to reports.

After selling the renowned artwork brand to Kokuyo of Japan, he had assumed the role of chairman emeritus at Kokuyo Camlin.

Under Dandekar’s leadership, Camlin underwent a remarkable transformation, elevating its status to a prominent player in the manufacturing of premium painting materials. His direction not only broadened Camlin’s offerings but also enhanced its market presence significantly.

Camlin was established in 1931 by brothers DP Dandekar and GP Dandekar under the name Dandekar & Co. Originally a stationery manufacturer, the company attained private company status in 1946 and subsequently transitioned to a public limited company in 1998.
