Artist Selling Popsicles Shaped Like Billionaires Such As Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos & More

| Published on July 16, 2022

No matter how old we get, enjoying a popsicle never outgrows in us. We all enjoy the sweet delicacy and have given in to our desires more than needed.

An artists’ collective in Brooklyn by the name of MSCHF is selling popsicles shaped like billionaires including Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos with the tagline “Eat the Rich.”

Jeff Bezos, Jack Ma, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk are also inspired by Good Humor-Breyers Popsicle brand’s childhood favorite character offerings complete with gumball eyes.

Priced at $10 USD, MSCHF’s Eat The Rich Popsicles are available now until July 13 via ice cream trucks throughout New York and Los Angeles.

The treats were designed to start a conversation, MSCHF’s chief revenue officer Daniel Greenberg told CBS MoneyWatch via email. Even though the items are selling well, MSCHF will stop its project Wednesday, and “there are no plans to expand this,” he said.

CBS News reports that billionaire wealth soared during the pandemic, boosting the fortunes of Musk, Bezos, and others — and sparking calls from some lawmakers for a wealth tax amid widening inequalities. While the popsicles are poking fun at the world’s richest, some individuals on social media say jokes about those paying $10 a pop.

MSCHF had earlier introduced the viral “Jesus Shoes” followed by the even more-controversial “Satan Shoes,” a pair of sneakers that were allegedly made with a drop of human blood, and marketed with rapper Lil Nas X.

While the artist may be indirectly speaking about the capitalism that has taken over the world, it is the most capitalist in itself. Selling a popsicle for $10 is something not many have been able to come around with. There have been many relateable comments on the price and how there have been people who are actually buying it.
