Just a few days ago Apple had officially admitted that it intentionally slows down the older iPhones with new updates. After this, the company received a huge number of negative comments from its customers. Apple has finally apologized for this and it would give a discount on the replacement of batteries for some of its smartphones.
“We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down. We apologize,” the company said in a message for the customers on its website. Apple’s chief executive, Tim Cook also promised that Apple will give its users more visibility into the health of their iPhone’s battery in the future. The company is offering a discount on battery replacements to anyone with an iPhone 6 or later, according to a statement. A replacement which earlier cost around $79 will now cost $29 only from January 2018.
Apple iPhone buyers are criticizing Apple for mainly two reasons: first is that Apple decreased the performance of their phones secretly and second, that the company did this to make customers buy new phones by slowing the older ones. Apple is currently facing eight lawsuits from iPhone owners in places including California, New York, New Jersey and even Israel. Many iPhone users are claiming money from Apple for not disclosing about the slowdowns previously. One California citizen claimant has asked nearly $1 trillion for the issue.
The rumors about Apple slowing the older iPhones had persisted for years on many news websites but Apple’s official statement on accepting this increased the fire among their customers.
