The new Jawa Perak was launched recently. Talking about the story behind the name of the latest motorbike in the Jawa series, Anand Mahindra took a slight dig at its rival bike in the video tweeted by him. The video was later taken down and then re-uploaded on November 18, after making necessary changes.
Anand Mahindra tweeted in his latest post, “Why the name Perak? Because the greatest products have great stories embedded in them. This clip’s a new edit. The old one had a (not so) subtle reference to a competitor. Put it down to our team’s over-enthusiasm. Now deleted. Just isn’t our style. We race against ourselves,”

So what’s the inside story?
As per the video, the name ‘Perak’ had been derived from the mystery man in Nazi Germany’s Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, who used to help people and gave them the motivation and encouragement. The Germans failed to capture him.
The bike’s name was thus given to commemorate that hero and his unknown identity. Coming back to the deleted post, it made a cunning mention of its rival motorbike Bullet. The narrator said, “A BULLET (ahem) was a trivial thing to a PERAK”.
A little background about PERAK!
When it comes to the design of the Jawa Bike, it is the first factory-made bobber motorcycle in India and does not have any direct competition as such. It is also powerful than the motor on other Jawa motorcycles. It was well-acclaimed by people across social media with a starting price is 1.94 lakhs. People who wish to buy it can start their booking in January 2020. The deliveries will start on April 20, 2020.
It is the third in the line of the Jawa series bikes after its revival. Unveiled a year ago with Jawa and Jawa Forty Two and was formally launched on November 15, 2019. It is also the first BS-VI compliant motorcycle from Jawa.
