Politicians of every country have made somewhat foolish statements every now and then. Some are lucky and do not come to our notice but some, well let’s just say they have seen better days.
Recently, the cricketer turned politician and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan made a statement which made him go viral for not the right reasons.
Imran Khan, earlier this year during his visit to Tehran, said that Japan and Germany share borders. He continued saying that the countries had joint industries on the border region post World War II during the press conference with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The video clip got viral on social media. And after a few months, it resurfaced again when Anand Mahindra shared it on Sunday.
Industrialist Anand Mahindra, whose sense of humor and witty posts are famous across the nation, trolled Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan for his goofed up statement on Twitter.
Mahindra’s tweet was captioned as, “Thank you Oh Lord, for ensuring that this gentleman was not my History or Geography teacher…”

Japan is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, thus has no land borders with any country, and Germany is a country in Europe. Also, Germany and Japan had joined hands under the Axis banner during World War II and took on Allied Powers.
Post his statement, Imran Khan was brutally trolled on social media. He clearly messed up as it was Germany & France (& not Japan) he should be referring to.
With great power comes great responsibility. It is not wrong to not know about certain historical facts. But it is wrong to claim something which you are not sure about to be true.
And if you are representing your country on an international platform it will always be advisable to do your homework thoroughly.
As someone had rightfully said that ‘A little knowledge is a dangerous thing’.
