All You Need To Know About The New ₹20 Currency Notes

Demonetization and Issue of new currency is one incident that will go down in the history of Indian democracy. 

While the world was introduced to new notes and denominations of ₹50, ₹500 and ₹2000 the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  has now announced new bank notes of 20. 

According to The Economic Times, the denominations will be in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series, and will bear the signature of the central bank’s governor Shaktikanta Das. All banknotes in the denomination of ₹20 issued by the RBI in the earlier series will also continue to be legal tender.

Here’s how the new currency note of Rs. 20 will look.

The important features to observe on the front side of the note are:

1. Micro letters ‘RBI’, ‘भारत ‘, ‘INDIA’ and ’20’.

2. See through register with denominational numeral 20.

3. Portrait of Gandhi on the centre and Ashoka Pillar on the right.

4. Windowed demetalised security thread with inscriptions ‘भारत’ and RBI.

5. Denominational numeral २० in Devnagari.

6. Guarantee Clause, Governor’s signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards right of Mahatma Gandhi portrait.

7. Number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side and bottom right side.

 

The important features to observe on the back side of the note are:

1. Year of printing of the note is on the left.

2. Swachh Bharat logo with slogan.

3. Motif of the Ellora caves.

4. Language panel.

5. Numeral २० in Devnagari.

The new notes will be in circulation soon.
