Do you remember the Diwali ads that left an indelible mark on your heart, transporting you to a world filled with warmth, joy, and a dash of nostalgia? These campaigns, more than just promoting products, have become an integral part of our Diwali celebrations. Join us on a nostalgic journey as we revisit the best Diwali ad campaigns that have touched our souls and added an extra sparkle to the festive season.

Best Diwali Ad Campaigns

1. HP India

In 2018, HP India released a touching ad “Umeed ka Diya”. This ad creatively promoted HP laptops and printers while highlighting the potential to support local craftsmen and artisans across India. It emphasizes the impact of digital technology in empowering these craftsmen and bringing hope to their lives.

2. Amazon Prime Video

In 2021, Amazon Prime Video introduced the #ApnoWaliDiwali campaign, urging viewers to celebrate Diwali with their families rather than binge-watching web series. The ad featured Pankaj Tripathi from the series Mirzapur, emphasizing the importance of togetherness during the festive season. Amazon Prime’s message resonated with many, making it one of the standout Diwali ads.

3. Shoppers Stop

In 2022, Shoppers Stop launched its Diwali ad campaign, #NayiDiwaliNayiSoch. The campaign, featured Yami Gautam and Dhairya Karwa, includes four short videos. These videos emphasize the idea of modern, progressive thinking within traditional Indian families. They showcase the importance of thoughtful gifting during Diwali as a means to connect better with loved ones.

4. Oppo Diwali Ad

In Oppo’s 2020 Diwali ad, two students and their tutor come together to celebrate the festival of lights. The heartwarming story revolves around the idea of being the light to spread the light, as the tutor surprises the kids with a box of sparklers to make their Diwali special. The ad also featured the launch of the OPPO F17 Diwali Edition, which adds to the festive spirit.

5. TVS Credit Diwali Ad

TVS Credit introduced the #SabkiTarakki campaign with an inspiring Diwali ad in 2019, aiming to spread hope and positivity. The ad shows children learning the tradition of opening doors to welcome prosperity during Diwali. They encounter a poor security guard without a door and decide to gift him one, bringing joy and unity. TVS Credit’s Magical Diwali promotion invited customers to share pictures of their recent purchases financed through TVS Credit loans, offering a chance to win exciting prizes.

6. Cadbury Diwali Ad

In 2020, Cadbury’s Diwali ad, known for its long-standing association with the festival, took on a unique approach. At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic had adversely affected the economy, including many small businesses, Cadbury introduced the “Not Just a Cadbury Ad Campaign.” This campaign went beyond promoting Cadbury products; it also served as a platform to support local businesses across India that had been impacted by the pandemic.

7. Acer Diwali Ad

In Acer’s 2022 Diwali ad campaign, they celebrated the unity of a multicultural Indian family during the festive season. The story revolves around a father who reunites with his daughter for Diwali after she marries of her own choice. As he gets to know her new family, he realizes her world is filled with happiness and prosperity. Acer is an integral part of their new life, symbolizing genuine prosperity, health, and wealth.

8. Sensodyne Diwali Ad

Sensodyne’s 2020 Diwali ad, titled #ForTheLoveOfFestiveFavourites, highlights the joy of celebrating festivals with mouth-watering traditional Indian cuisines. It features two sisters recreating their Nani’s Malpua recipe over a video call, emphasizing that you can enjoy your favorite festival foods without worrying about tooth sensitivity.

9. Sensodyne Diwali Ad

In Vivo India’s 2021 Diwali ad, they celebrated the #JoyOfHomecoming. The heartwarming story features a lonely grandfather who finds companionship with his new tenant, captured on a Vivo phone and shared with his family, leading to a heartwarming family reunion.

Conclusion

Diwali ads, crafted as creative audio-visual productions, primarily aim to boost brand sales. Yet, some surpass their commercial intent, evolving into motivational pieces that inspire and resonate with consumers, their families, and society at large.
