Five Innovative Indian Restaurants That Opened Doors In 2022 With Impressive Concepts

| Published on May 9, 2023

The hospitality industry was one of the most impacted industries during the pandemic. But the year 2022, brought about relief and a welcome change, and since then there has been no stopping on the food scene in the country.

With people now ready to try new cuisines and ingredients, a plethora of restaurants have upped their game, and many new restaurants have opened doors to not just food, but varied cuisine cultures.

Here are five innovative restaurants that welcomed patrons in 2022, according to Conde Nast Traveller.

1. Pandan Club

The restaurant is a modern Peranakan restaurant, under the United Fork Pvt Ltd banner, led by chefs Shashi Cheliah and Manoj Padmanabhan.

The Peranakans were Chinese folks who adopted Malay culture, and the food is heavily inspired by Chinese, Malay, Javanese, and South Indian influences.

With an eclectic beverage menu, curated by Manoj Padmanabhan, and an out-of-the-box food menu by MasterChef Australia’s winner Shashi, the Pandan Club is already raising the bar in Chennai’s fine-dining hotspots.

2. People of Tomorrow

Right from its entrance to the restaurant concept to its menu, everything about this Delhi restaurant will leave you mesmerized.

Vegan food has never seemed so appealing. From smoothies to pizzas, everything will make you fall in love with plant-based eating.

This restaurant takes its sourcing procedure very seriously, with just three ingredients being imported, in-house grown condiments, and nut-based options being used instead of dairy.

3. Makutsu

Goa has been a forerunner in the food space, with many new restaurants, cafes, and bars coming up in recent times. And Makutsu, the new Japanese and Pan Asian restaurant in Panjim, is already winning hearts with its yakitori-only concept.

This is chef Pablo Luis de Miranda’s second restaurant after Antonio@31, a fun cocktail bar.

The restaurant interiors emanate vibes of a dark and edgy Kyoto izakaya, right in the middle of Goa.

4. Koishii

Peruvian cuisine is steadily becoming one of the most sought-after cuisines among Indians. And so is Japanese.

Doing justice to this unlikely amalgamation of cuisines is Koishii, Mumbai’s new culinary hotspot, replete with chic decors and a tantalizing menu, guaranteeing a delightful end to your Saturday evening.

5. Naru Noodle Bar

Fancy a ramen-offering restaurant? Then, Bengaluru is your place to be, at the Naru Noodle Bar. An eight-seater, easy-to-miss but unforgettable once sampled, is the brainchild of Kavan Kutappa, who started this venture by selling DIY ramen kits across the city during lockdown.

The restaurant offers a hearty bowl of ramen, with elements including everything made right from scratch.

With a limited but soulful menu, the restaurant is going to want you to keep coming often, which by the way is pretty hard to first get into.
