Who said girls can’t travel without a male accomplice? An astonishing number of women travelers are taking to traveling by themselves, be it a local trip to a nearby destination or even an international one.

And then, helping them and making their experiences worth remembering are travel companies, that are curating trips and vacations keeping in mind their safety and interests. And many women inspired by their travels have established travel clubs, that are encouraging women to explore by travel.

Here are 6 women who are doing exceptionally well in organizing travel offerings, be it solo or even in groups.

1. Girls On The Go Club

A chance visit to Tibet gave India a travel company that is simply outstanding. Piya Bose, a corporate lawyer by profession started Girls on The Go Club in 2008. She even quit her profession for the same.

Her impressive travel offerings include viewing the majestic Northern Lights in The Arctic, exploring volcanoes in Santorini, and even staying with head-hunters in Nagaland, closer home. GOTGC also curates travel plans for people with disabilities- having organized women on wheelchairs dive underwater, and is now encouraging people from lesser privileged backgrounds to travel and explore.

Her TEDx talk on starting a zero-cash business model was listed as one of the top nine TEDx talks on travel, globally.

2. Women on Clouds

Shireen Mehra, a former air hostess at Qatar Airways established her travel club Women on Clouds after a trip to Dehradun with her girl group.

The club offers segments in travel like Classic Trip- which covers international and domestic trips, including leisure and business trips, Light Pocket trips, and the White Cloud, which has activities and adventures for travelers, like yoga and even car maintenance.

All her trips have a female coordinator at all times. Their trips are all advertised on Facebook and offer fixed date departures for travel.

3. Wovoyage

Starting with a view to making travel safer, especially for women, Wovoyage started so as to equip solo travelers with girl guides. It now offers all traveling-related services like accommodation, guided tours, and transportation.

With soaring demand for staycations, especially after the pandemic, Rashmi Chadha offers staycation services too and helps develop local communities.

Most of her clients are foreigners or ex-pats who are looking to travel to India.

4. F5 Escapes

Malini Gowrishankar has been a voiceover artist, radio jockey, and even a creative Writer. Her passion for travel prompted her to start F5 Escapes, with an aim to make women believe that India is a safe place for travel.

In July 2013, Malini started her travel venture and her company offers travel to some offbeat destinations like Tirthan Valley, Wayanad, and even Hampi. They also provide customized travel itineraries for women groups and families.

5. Ladakhi Women Travel Company

If you are thinking of traveling to the remotest areas of Ladakh, guided by female guides and porters in tow, you can safely book a trek with Ladakhi Women Travel Company.

The company was founded by Thinlas Chorol, a famous Ladakhi guide herself, with an aim to encourage Ladakhi women to show their abilities and skills, particularly in remote areas.

Though treks are their specialty, they also offer guided and customized tours, which include homestays as well.

6. Wandering Jane

A travel company that offers some amazing activities and destinations for solo women travelers. Trekking, surfing, yoga, road trips, etc. All are available at this Bangalore-based travel agency, found by Garima Pande and Akshat Sharma.

They collaborate with local women travel experts and arrange and take care of their every travel need. Every experience is well-curated and approved. With prim planning around offbeat locations, be it Meghalaya or Naples or even experiences like a walking tour of Mumbai, each of their tours is mesmerizing and remarkable.
