Top 12 ‘Most Valued Indian Companies’: Hurun Global 500 List 2021

The Hurun Research Institute released the Hurun Global 500 list 2021. Out of the 500, 12 companies from India have been included in the world’s most valuable private companies.

According to this list which was released on August 20, Reliance is at the top of the Indian companies followed by Tata Consultancy Services and HDFC Bank.

Overall, Apple is the most valuable company in the world. The company has a market cap of $2.4 trillion which has increased by 15% this year.

As per the second edition of the Hurun Global 500 list, the four companies that topped the list were Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet created a value of $4tn, driven by the growth in cloud services amid a maturing of the digital economy.

India rose above Australia to 9th with 12 companies: 8 in Mumbai, 2 in Bengaluru, and one in each of Noida and New Delhi. With US$188bn, Reliance Industries is the most valuable company followed by Tata Consultancy Services (US$164bn) and HDFC Bank (US$113bn). Financial Services and Software & Services led the way, with 4 companies, followed by Telecommunications with 2.

250 or 50% of the non-India Hurun Global 500have a regional presence in India, spread across ten cities, led by Mumbai with 86, and followed by Bengaluru with 52, Gurugram 32, New Delhi 30, and Pune with 13.

1. Reliance Industries

With an overall valuation of $188 billion, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries is the most valued Indian company. It ranks 57 on the Hurun List 2021.

2. Tata Consultancy Service


Dropping one spot from the previous year, TCS ranked 74 on the Hurun Global List and has reported a valuation of $164 billion. The company has reported an 18% increase in its market cap this year.

3. HDFC Bank


The third highest valued company HDFC Bank has reported a total valuation of $113 Billion.

4. Infosys

Infosys has a global rank of 163 with a total valuation of $88.5 billion.

5. ICICI Bank

ICICI Bank ranked 268 on the global list and has reported a market cap of $62 billion.

6. HDFC

HDFC ranked 301 and has a total valuation of $56.7 billion.

7. Kotak Mahindra Bank

Ranked at 380, as of August 2021 Kotak Mahindra Bank has a market cap of $45.41 Billion.

8. Bajaj Finance

Bajaj Finance has ranked 381 on the global list.

9. Wipro

With a global ranking of 461, Wipro has a market cap of $39.9 billion.

10. Bharti Airtel

After Reliance, Bharti Airtel has also made it to the list with a ranking at 462 and a total valuation of $39.6 billion.

11. Asian Paints

With a total market cap of $38.4 billion, Asian Paints ranked at 477 globally.

12. HCL Technologies


HCL Technologies has a global rank of 498 and is the 12th most valued company in the country with a market cap of $36.6 billion.
