The country has suffered a spike in coronavirus cases from April to May this year. During this time, a number of employees have been affected or had family members who are going through turmoil. Some have even passed away due to the second wave. To give employees and their families respite during these trying times, Tata Steel is winning hearts by paying salaries and benefits through policies made especially for COVID-19.
The Founder and Chairman, Ratan Tata, is a well-known name in the industry. He is a philanthropist and has always treated his employees like family. His Jamshedput-based company has recently announced that it will be paying the full salary to families of employees who have unfortunately succumbed to the coronavirus pandemic. Further, this salary would be paid up until the retirement age to these families i.e., till 60 years of age.
In addition to this, if the family needs extended support, Tata Steel is happy to provide medical as well as residential support. The company announced these new policies in an official post on Twitter.
#TataSteel has taken the path of #AgilityWithCare by extending social security schemes to the family members of the employees affected by #COVID19. While we do our bit, we urge everyone to help others around them in any capacity possible to get through these tough times. pic.twitter.com/AK3TDHyf0H

Users have nothing but praises for the company for putting their employees first no matter the situation. This kind of gesture is much needed especially when the crisis is on a global level.
This has always been THE TATA. 🙏 #ThisIsTata

Other companies have also announced policies to help employees cope with the mental stress and loss during COVID-19 by allowing 4-days work a week, fully paid salaries despite having COVID-19, and helping with an additional medical fund for employees or their facilities to securely battle this pandemic.
We are proud of TATA Steel’s decision and hope that more companies will follow suit.
