Indian cricketers have always enjoyed a celebrity status not just in India but across the globe. They have had a successful career as a an Indian cricketer but have also earned a lot through other means, brand endorsements being one of them.

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar is surely one of the most loved names in the history of Indian cricket. During and after his time with the Indian cricket team, Tendulkar took up many endorsements which have brought his total net worth to around Rs 118 crores.

There have been several projects that Tendulkar took up over these years. In 2002, Sachin Tendulkar began his journey as an entrepreneur by opening a restaurant in Mumbai. In partnership with Sanjay Narang, a celebrity hotelier, they named the restaurant ‘Tendulkar”s’. Soon after he opened up another restaurant by the name ‘Sachin’s’ in Mumbai & Bangalore. However, the venture did not succeed and he had to shut down the restaurants in 2007.

In 2011, the Future Group’s Big Bazaar launched a range of personal care products by the name of ‘Sach’, which was inspired by Sachin Tendulkar himself.

in 2013, Sachin did not just become an ambassador for the UAE-based travel portal, Musafir, but he also had a 7.5% stake in the company. However, only after 5 years into this alliance, Tendulkar left the company as it was not being able to gain success.

in 2014, Sachin became the co-owner of the Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Kerala Blasters FC, Badminton Premier League team Bengaluru Blasters, and Master Blaster’s magic in Kabaddi. However, in September 2018, Tendulkar sold off his stake in ISL after an association of 4 years.

Smaaash Entertainment was founded in 2009 and deals with sports simulation tech, based on cricket, football, racing, and leisure activities, like that of a lounge, spa, arcade gaming. Tendulkar is one of the biggest shareholders of the company and only last year, the company managed to raise Rs 25 crore from US investments.

In 2016, True Blue, a men’s apparel brand, was launched with a partnership between Tendulkar and Arvind Fashion Brands Limited. In the same year, SRT Sports Management Pvt. Ltd, a sports management company, managed by the cricketer and his wife, Dr. Anjali Tendulkar was launched.

Virat Kohli

Apart from being the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli is the highest earning cricketer in the world. With his professional career and brand endorsements, his net worth is estimated to be around Rs 180 crores.

In 2014, Virat Kohli joined hands with a big fashion brand ‘Wrogn’. The company’s worth stood at Rs 4.8 crores but jumped to a whopping Rs 101 crores by 2017 all because of its association with Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli co-founded One8, in association with the sports brand Puma. The brand sells luxury footwear, athleisure, and performance apparel online and has had a successful start since its launch.
