How A 23 Year Old Entrepreneur Turned Rs 30,000 Into Rs 20 Lakh Revenue & International Success

| Published on May 8, 2020

Lavish, handmade apparel and accessories seller, has quickly become a favorite for many. The Delhi based brand was launched in 2017 and in such a short span it has become an inspiration.

Where It All Began

Two years prior to the launch, the founder of Lavish, Aarushi was working as a business developer with a local startup but was also pursuing her own part-time business of selling products on Amazon. Though she soon realized that she wanted to be an entrepreneur and therefore gave up her job to follow her dream.

Interestingly, Aarushi was just 23 years old when she started Lavish and that too with an investment of just Rs. 30,000 through her own savings.

Understanding How The Brand Works

In an interview with YourStory, Aarushi had discussed in length about her dream of becoming an entrepreneur and what motivated her to take that step.

While talking about her business, she shared that she sources her products through various craftsmen in and around Meerut, Agra, and other cities in Uttar Pradesh. Aarushi has around 30-40 local women artisans including part-time who does handwork like reusing old pieces of fabric and making jewelry and patch clothes out of it. Most of the women are working from home for daily age.

It’s Impact On The International Market

Aarushi in her interview had also discussed that Lavish has a huge presence in the international market. So much so that around 95% of the total business comes from international sales.

The main reason behind is that there is a huge demand for Indian handmade products internationally.

Lavish is available on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, and on Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), Enterprise Europe Network, on a US-based export portal, and eCommerce platforms like IndiaMart. They were earlier also listed on Amazon.

Post COVID19 Plans

Post the lockdown is lifted and the economy is up and running again, Aarushi plans on expanding her business and getting Lavish enlisted on Amazon Global and get associated with various other brands such as Big Bazaar.

What is even better is that Lavish might soon begin B2C selling as well.

Lavish is also selling ‘Exclusive Premium Designer Jewelry’ and catering to queries from all over India, East Europe, North Europe, South/West Europe, Australia/NZ, UAE, Central America, South America, North America, and the Caribbean.
