Nirmala Sitharaman Said She Doesn’t Eat Onions, Netizens Are Trolling Her Badly

| Published on December 5, 2019

Politicians of India live a high-class lifestyle and a lot of times fail to know the struggles of a common man who does everything for his bread and butter.

Any time, these politicians are seen commenting and talking about the issues of a normal human, people happen to find it offensive and it does not take a long time for the thing to become sensitive enough to be a painful element to emotions of many.

These days, the most usual news going viral is the increased prices of onions. In Loksabha, during a meeting, Nirmala Sitharaman casually comments on this matter saying, “I don’t eat onions much.”

NCP leader Supriya Sule put forward this question regarding the low production and enhanced prices of onions when an MP intervened and asked the finance minister if she eats onions or not.

To this question, the minister had replied that she does not eat onions and garlic as the family she comes from has nothing to do with them.

A lot of people have tweeted on this matter. Check below.

People are objecting to such statements because it is not the first time politicians have made comments on these sensitive issues.

In 2013, when Narendra Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat, he had said this in one of his speeches, “We shall soon have to store onions in lockers. When guests arrive, we will take them out so from the locker so they can smell the aroma and keep it back in the locker.”

Onion Prices are not at all showing any trace of decreasing. In Hyderabad, the prices of onion are Rs.150/kg whwere as in Odisha, it is Rs.120/kg.
