These 8 Business Lessons That Game Of Thrones Can Teach You Better Than Anyone!

What? business lessons? From Game of Thrones? Are you kidding? No, definitely not! The series is all about wars, dragons, and families trying to make their way to the iron throne. But yes there are lots of business lessons and entrepreneurship ideas that one can get if one follows closely!

The twists and tactics going around every day in the seven kingdoms are enough to make you deal with the battles that you face while you are into business. The Lannisters, Starks, Targaryens and so on have much to teach you about how to carve your way into new deals and to take a hold on that. So let the game begin.

Lessons from Thrones Game Of Thrones:

1. Pay Your Debt

“A Lannister always pays his debts”- well you must have heard this million of time in the series but have you ever thought that how much important this rule is in your business. The Lannisters who are showcased as one of the richest and powerful community always keeps a close eye to pay their debts in time. While taking a debt be aware of the terms- increase productivity and good terms with customers to make it easy in future to pay your debt when needed.

2. Let Your Competitors Fight

Remember what does Tyrion Lannister say? ‘Your enemies hate each other as much as they hate you’ The reason why when you enter a new market, you definitely have a lot of competitors. How to destroy their market? By letting them fight in the marketing campaigns and you make your entry when necessary. Build the market and faith and wait for chances and then hit the iron when it’s hot.

3. Loyalty Comes With Freedom

Let your peers and people working under you have the freedom to work. If they enjoy what they do they are sure to be loyal to your services. Remember when Daenerys bought the unsullied who were slaves in the kingdom. He bought them and gave them freedom- a choice to either serve her or go back to where they belong. You see that is a clever strategy.

4. Kindness

Now, where doesn’t kindness work? A few sacrifices and kindness can bring the best in you. “The occasional kindness will spare you all sorts of trouble down the road.”- that’s what the queen said. You don’t have to be a cruel boss or a partner.

5. Build It Over Time

It’s always necessary before you are into a business to understand the crowd and which place you are targeting. Manipulations are very important for business. Might be profited won’t come in the beginning but once the market is built, you are the power. Remember how Ambani built his customer base before launching more offers in Jio? Even in Game of Thrones Varys himself admitted how he was a beggar and how his manipulations and works over time helped him to climb the ladder of success.

6. Unity Is The Strength

No one won any battle standing alone! Robert Baratheon, also known as the King of the Seven Kingdoms, once explained how the power of an army can work. He held up five fingers and then held up one finger. Then, he asked the queen which number is greater. She guessed wrong: Power comes in one unified approach. That’s it! Be it any new journey in business everyone should work as a team to bring success.

7. Strategize

For any Entrepreneur, the House of Starks is a lesson. Well, remember how the Kingdoms should plan and strategize for upcoming winter as the theme is ‘Winter Is Coming’. It’s important for any start up to plan and strategize before you join the journey. Any rampant idea without a good strategy has always failed. So plot down the points, the investors and chalk out the money required, get enough sources and resources and then only dream for a successful venture.

8. Trust Carefully

You know lots of people in the market exist who are very manipulative and shrewd like Littlefinger. They are well established in the business while you are a new comer, so lots of arrows might be aimed towards you. but you must know in a business to whom put your trust on. Never let someone like Lord Baelish ruin your dream.
