A A

Started as a small-time sportswear company in Germany, today Adidas is a household name and is very well known throughout the world. Adidas is into sports apparel and also manufactures sports equipment. In the current scenario, they dominate the global market in sportswear.

Adidas logo is one of the most popular logos globally and has helped the brand connect with its audience pretty well. People recognize the logo on sight and this memory sticks with them while buying out their sportswear or equipment.

Adidas’s logo identity has been unique but very simplistic in nature and this combination has always made the logo stand out.

Logo #1: The Three Stripes

When the company just started out, they placed three black stripes on everything that they manufactured. This logo did not have any particular design or a specific look. The owner of the company liked calling his business ‘The Three Stripe Company’. Even as the new logos evolved over a period of time, the company retained and remained loyal to their three stripes.

Logo #2: The Trefoil

The trefoil was the second Adidas logo which is over 40 years old now. The love for three stripes is very evident in this logo as well. There are three stripes in both the leave that shoot out from the logo and the three stripes that cross it diagonally. This logo is used to date on some of the products especially the classic range of Adidas. The logo represented the diversification to more number of products and the fact that the brand was a lot larger than how it started.

Logo #3: The Three Bars

In the latest logo that Adidas uses, the three stripes still make their mark but it has a lot more meaning and depth than the earlier ones. The three stripes or bars are placed in such a way that it almost resembles a mountain. The mountain is a depiction of challenge that the people who buy Adidas push themselves to their limits in order to achieve the best.

This new logo is definitely more powerful and it is one of the best examples of simplicity depicting power. It is now used in most of their fine range of products and had carved identification for itself globally without any struggle. The three stripes still mean Adidas to the people who see it.

Why Does the Adidas Logo Work?

The fact that the company has retained the power of their three stripes and the new logos are only adaptations of the old ones, they have never faced an identity crisis. The simplicity and uniqueness have helped them remain on top of the mind of the people and sportswear and equipment with these three stripes make an impactful brand presence. Adidas’s logo is one of those premium logos that people find pride in flaunting. So wearing a tee shirt with Adidas logo, or those running shoes or the football, all are symbols of some sort of connect and achievement that people relate to. This logo is very hugely responsible to place Adidas in one of the most popular and powerful brands across the globe.
