Double Tap Films, the microdrama studio launched by Pratilipi, has entered into a content distribution partnership with TikTok to take its original Indian microdrama shows to international audiences.
As part of the deal, 21 original titles from Double Tap Films’ catalogue will be distributed across Canada, the United States, Brazil and Japan under a one-year non-exclusive licensing agreement with a monthly revenue-sharing model. The partnership marks the studio’s formal entry into global content distribution.
The selected titles will stream on TikTok in their original Hindi audio, accompanied by subtitles tailored to each market. The slate is part of Double Tap Films’ growing library of over 150 microdramas, all adapted from story IPs that have already found large-scale readership on the Pratilipi platform.
The shows are backed by Pratilipi’s content ecosystem, which includes over 20 million stories, 2 million authors and nearly 800 million monthly reads across 12 Indian languages. Produced entirely with Indian talent, the vertical-format dramas are designed specifically for mobile viewing and lean into emotionally driven storytelling formats that have gained popularity globally.
Titles in the lineup include Avnika Ki Shaadi, Apavitra and CEO Se Romeo, among others. Double Tap Films said its production model is built around adapting pre-validated intellectual property, enabling the studio to create content at significantly lower costs compared to traditional OTT production models while relying on audience data to guide greenlighting decisions.
“This deal with TikTok is the first proof point of what we set out to build: a studio whose IP doesn’t stop at India’s borders. Our writers, actors, and producers are drawing from something real and Indian, and the world is responding to that. This is what taking Indian IP global looks like,” said Sharlton Menezes, Vice President IP & Key Partnerships, Pratilipi & Double Tap Films
