Fans across the world have flocked to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 during its opening weekend, with packed stadiums and rising digital consumption reflecting strong early viewership. After the first six matches held across India and Sri Lanka, ICC digital channels have recorded a significant rise in engagement compared to the first two days of the 2024 tournament.
The tournament has generated 647 million video views across platforms, marking a 53% increase. The ICC app has registered an 83% spike in users, while website traffic has grown by 16% during the same period.
Viewership growth has been driven largely by audiences beyond Full Member countries. Nepal has recorded the highest increase in users at 442%, following its Group C clash against England. The UAE and the USA have also seen user growth of 196% and 49%, respectively, indicating widening global interest in the tournament.
Match attendance has remained strong across venues. India’s game against the USA at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium has recorded the highest turnout of the weekend with 24,997 spectators, while four of the remaining five matches have drawn more than 15,000 fans each. Improved ticket accessibility and early scheduling announcements have contributed to encouraging crowd numbers during the Group Stage across eight venues.
A total of 107,781 spectators have attended the opening weekend matches, adding to the 48,000 fans who have watched the warm-up fixtures between India and South Africa (43,000) and India A versus USA (5,000).
Streaming numbers have also surged, with total views on ICC.tv rising by 296% and unique users increasing by 192%. Engagement from non-traditional cricket markets including Japan, Germany, South Korea, France, Malaysia, Italy and the Netherlands has accounted for over a quarter of total ICC.tv views.
The introduction of non-English commentary feeds on ICC.tv has further expanded accessibility, with the Nepali stream for England versus Nepal and the Hindi feed for India versus USA emerging as the most-watched matches on the platform.
