The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been one of the most interesting things to happen to India. All the different teams are led by B-Town celebrities and Indian businessmen, each having a reputation of their own since 2008. Despite the immense fan following, some of our favorite teams have seen a drop in their brand values over the past 2 years.
Chennai Super Kings (-16.5%)
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team has a brand name for himself. Despite his fame individually and leading CSK single-handedly, the team saw a whooping decline of Rs. 732 in brand value. This was in 2019, and in 2020, it came down to Rs. 611 crores. What a loss!
Kolkata Knight Riders (-13.7%)
KKR have been the IPL champions for 2 whole seasons. Despite their luck and fame, they experienced a massive drop in brand value. In 2019, it was Rs. 629 crores and Rs. 543 crores in 2020.
Kings XI Punjab (-11.3%)
Kings XI Punjab was one of the few teams that saw a drastic drop since 2019. With a drop of Rs. 40 crores, their famous lineup of K L Rahul and Mayank Agarwal was not enough to save them.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (-9.9%)
Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore faced a -9.9% drop despite being one of the most famous teams in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team faced a drop by Rs. 59 crores last season.
SunRisers Hyderabad (-8.5%)
Fans were stunned to see this team switch up the entire game and reach the third spot last season. However, luck did not favor them as they saw a drop in value by Rs. 41 crores once their campaign was complete.
