Mohd Aqeel Amhed, a Zomato delivery executive in Hyderabad who has been working with the company for a year now, rode on his cycle to deliver an order of a customer, Robin Mukesh. Now, this may seem like an everyday Monday night Zomato delivery but what’s important to learn is that he rode around nine kilometres in 20 minutes to fulfil that order!
Surprised at the speed with which Aqeel fulfilled the order delivery, Mukesh proceeded to take an image of Aqeel and posted it on his social media, sharing it with everyone.
“My order was delivered in a lightning speed by Mohd Aqeel. He was in Mehdiputnam when my order was confirmed by Nilofar Lakdikapul and delivered in King Koti. He is pursuing his undergraduate in engineering. All this happened on his bicycle. If you happen to see him… please be generous with a tip. Btw I ordered tea and it was super hot,” Mukesh wrote on Facebook.
Netizens came in support of Aqeel and suggested that they ought to do something for a man who was so hard at work. Mukesh started a fundraiser for Aqeel for a bike which would prove to be quite beneficial for the delivery executive. The fundraiser soon caught on with everyone sharing the story and within 10 hours, he was able to raise Rs 60,000. At the end of the campaign, after garnering much attention from everyone, the total funds raised were Rs 73,370 in all.
The power of social media has definitely manifested itself for Aqeel who will be in receipt of a TVS XL bike with the funds raised. He will also be getting other vital requirements that go with riding a bike, like a helmet and a raincoat. Moreover, the funds which do not go into the bike will be given to him for his college fees which will assist in furthering his education.
